The 17-Hour Journey: A Dead Passenger That Wouldn’t Stay Still
Some journeys are long.
Some are tiring.
But there are a few… that you never forget.
This is the story of Kiran, a poor jeep driver from rural Nepal, who took a job out of desperation… and ended up facing something that should never exist.
A Life Full of Struggles
Kiran lived in a small mountain village in Nepal. His family was poor, and life had never been easy.
His father worked as a laborer, and his mother stitched clothes to earn a few extra rupees. Despite all their efforts, money was always short.
To support his family, Kiran started driving a V-Jeep taxi between villages and nearby towns.
But business was not good.
Some days, he would sit for hours at the roadside… waiting… hoping for just one passenger.
Most days, he returned home empty-handed.
The Unusual Offer
One cold evening, as dark clouds covered the sky, Kiran sat beside his jeep, lost in thought.
Suddenly, three men approached him.
Their faces were serious. Their eyes looked tired… almost lifeless.
One of them spoke slowly:
“We need to go far… about 17 hours from here.”
Kiran’s heart lifted. A long trip meant good money.
He nodded. “Where?”
The second man hesitated… then said:
“We need you to carry a… dead body.”
Kiran froze.
He had never done something like this before.
But then he thought about his family… their empty kitchen… their struggles.
He swallowed his fear.
“Okay… I’ll take you.”
The Beginning of the Journey
A few minutes later, the men brought a body wrapped in white cloth.
They carefully placed it on the back seat of the jeep.
Kiran noticed something strange.
The body felt… heavier than normal.
Before leaving, he asked,
“You’re not coming with me?”
The men shook their heads.
“No. You go alone.”
Kiran felt uneasy.
But the money was already in his hands.
So he started the engine… and drove into the mountains.
The Silent Passenger
The first few hours were normal.
The road twisted through hills and forests. The wind howled softly. Darkness slowly took over the sky.
Kiran occasionally glanced in the rearview mirror.
The body lay still. Covered. Silent.
But as night deepened… something changed.
The First Sound
It was around midnight.
The forest had become darker… quieter.
Suddenly—
“Tap… tap…”
A faint sound came from the back.
Kiran frowned.
Maybe it was the road.
But then—
“Tap… tap… tap…”
This time it was clearer.
Kiran’s hands tightened on the steering wheel.
He slowly looked into the rearview mirror.
Nothing.
The body hadn’t moved.
The Whisper
Minutes later…
A cold breeze passed through the jeep.
But all the windows were closed.
Kiran’s heartbeat increased.
Then he heard it.
A weak, dry voice…
“Water…”
Kiran’s blood ran cold.
He slammed the brakes.
Slowly… very slowly… he turned his head back.
The body was still lying there.
Covered.
Silent.
Kiran whispered to himself,
“It’s just my imagination…”
But deep inside… he knew something was wrong.
The Movement
An hour later, the road entered a dense jungle.
No lights. No people. Just darkness.
Then suddenly—
The jeep shook slightly.
From behind…
He heard something moving.
Like someone… shifting position.
Kiran’s breath stopped.
He forced himself to look in the mirror.
And then—
He screamed.
The body had slightly risen.
The white cloth was moving.
The Truth Revealed
Kiran stopped the jeep completely.
His hands were trembling.
Slowly, the white cloth began to slide down… on its own.
A pale, decayed face appeared.
Eyes half-open.
Skin rotten.
And then…
The lips moved.
“Take me… home…”
The Nightmare Begins
Kiran panicked.
He slammed the accelerator and sped away.
But the horror followed him.
From the back seat…
Strange sounds filled the jeep.
Laughter… crying… whispering…
Then he looked again.
The dead man was now sitting upright.
Staring directly at him.
The Chase of Fear
Kiran cried,
“Please… leave me…”
But the jeep began to slow down on its own.
As if something was holding it back.
Kiran pressed the accelerator harder.
Suddenly, in the distance—
He saw a small temple glowing in the darkness.
It was his only hope.
The Escape
He drove straight toward it and stopped.
Without looking back, he ran inside the temple.
The moment he stepped in—
A terrifying scream echoed behind him.
Kiran gathered courage and looked back.
The jeep stood still.
The back seat was empty.
The body…
was gone.
Only the white cloth remained… lying on the ground.
The Morning After
At sunrise, villagers arrived.
After hearing his story, an old man said:
“That spirit was not at peace. It wanted to reach home… but something was unfinished.”
Kiran had survived… but barely.
A Life Changed Forever
After that night, Kiran was never the same.
He couldn’t sleep.
Every time he sat in a vehicle… he felt someone sitting behind him.
Finally, he made a decision.
He quit driving.
A few months later, Kiran left Nepal and went abroad for work.
But even today…
On silent nights…
He sometimes hears that same voice…
“Take me… home…”
