Haunted Forest Road at Night 🌧️ | Scary Horror Story

The Woman in the Rain – A Terrifying Horror Story From the Mountain Road

Rain poured from the dark sky like endless rivers. The wind screamed through the mountains, and the narrow forest road looked like a path leading straight into death.

Rahul never believed in ghosts.

But after that night, everything changed.

A Simple Boy With a Happy Life

Rahul was a 24-year-old software engineer working in an IT company in the city. Even though he had a stable job and earned good money, his heart always belonged to his small village hidden between the hills of Nepal.

He lived with his mother and younger sister. His father had passed away years ago, so Rahul carried the responsibility of the family on his shoulders from a young age.

Among all the people in his life, Rahul loved his sister the most. She was not just his sister; she was his best friend. Whenever Rahul returned home from the city, he always brought gifts for her.

A few months after her marriage, Rahul received the happiest news of his life.

His sister had given birth to a baby boy.

The entire family celebrated the moment with tears of happiness. Rahul immediately applied for leave from work so he could visit her village with his mother.

Neither of them knew that the return journey would become the most horrifying experience of their lives.

The Visit

The next morning, Rahul and his mother started their journey on his motorbike. His sister lived in a remote village nearly three hours away.

The weather was pleasant when they left home. Birds chirped in the trees, cool air touched their faces, and sunlight fell beautifully across the hills.

When they finally reached the village, Rahul’s sister welcomed them with joy in her eyes.

The moment Rahul held his newborn nephew in his arms, he felt a strange peace in his heart.

The entire day passed with laughter, conversations, and celebration. Rahul’s mother stayed busy taking care of the baby while Rahul played with his nephew and spent time with his sister’s family.

Hours passed quickly.

Too quickly.

By the time Rahul looked at his watch again, it was already evening.

Dark clouds had covered the sky.

“We should leave now,” his mother said nervously.

Rahul nodded.

If they delayed any longer, traveling through the hills at night would become dangerous.

The Storm Begins

At first, the ride back home was smooth.

But after nearly an hour, the weather suddenly changed.

Cold wind rushed through the mountains.

The trees began swaying violently.

Then came the rain.

Heavy rain.

Within minutes, the road became slippery and dangerous. Water flowed across the path like small rivers.

Rahul slowed down the bike.

“Should we stop somewhere?” his mother asked from behind.

Rahul looked around. There was nothing nearby except dense forest and mountain cliffs.

“No, Mom. If we stop here, it might get worse.”

They continued moving forward.

Lightning flashed across the sky, illuminating the dark mountains for a split second before disappearing again.

Every flash made the forest look more terrifying.

The Shortcut

After some time, Rahul remembered an old shortcut road through the mountain forest.

It was rarely used because the road was narrow and dangerous, but it could save nearly an hour.

Rahul hesitated.

Villagers often talked about strange things happening there at night.

People claimed they heard voices in the forest.

Some said they saw a woman in white wandering near the road during storms.

Rahul never believed those stories.

Ghosts were just superstitions.

At least that’s what he thought.

“We’ll take the shortcut,” Rahul said.

His mother immediately became silent.

“That forest road?” she asked softly.

“Yes. It’ll get us home faster.”

For a few seconds, his mother said nothing.

Then she quietly held Rahul’s shoulder tighter.

Into the Darkness

The moment they entered the forest road, Rahul felt something strange.

The atmosphere changed completely.

The air became colder.

The forest looked unnaturally dark.

Tall trees surrounded the narrow muddy road from both sides. The rain became heavier, and thick fog slowly covered the path ahead.

Even the sound of insects had disappeared.

Only the storm remained.

Rahul’s bike headlight cut through the darkness like a weak beam struggling against the night.

Suddenly—

A loud crack of thunder exploded above them.

Rahul’s mother flinched in fear.

Then she whispered something that made Rahul uncomfortable.

“I feel like someone is watching us.”

Rahul forced himself to laugh.

“It’s just your imagination.”

But deep inside, he felt it too.

The First Shadow

A few minutes later, Rahul noticed something near the trees.

Someone was standing there.

A figure.

Tall and motionless.

Rahul immediately looked again.

Nothing.

Only darkness and rain.

His heartbeat became faster.

“Did you see that?” his mother whispered.

Rahul remained silent.

Lightning flashed again.

This time he clearly saw a woman standing between the trees.

She wore white clothes.

Her long black hair covered her face.

And she was staring directly at them.

The lightning disappeared.

Darkness swallowed everything again.

Rahul gripped the handle tighter and accelerated the bike.

The Bike Stops

The forest road became rougher as they moved deeper into the mountains.

Then suddenly—

The bike jerked violently.

A strange metallic sound echoed beneath them.

And the engine stopped.

Rahul cursed under his breath.

The bike chain had loosened.

Right in the middle of the forest.

Rain continued pouring heavily.

The wind screamed through the trees like human cries.

Rahul took out his phone.

No signal.

Not even a single bar.

Fear slowly crawled into his chest.

His mother stood silently beside the bike, clutching her shawl tightly.

“Hurry up,” she whispered.

Rahul knelt near the bike and began fixing the chain with trembling hands.

Water dripped from his hair onto the muddy ground.

Then—

He heard footsteps behind him.

Slow.

Wet.

Crunching against leaves.

Rahul froze.

The footsteps stopped too.

He slowly turned around.

Nothing.

Only darkness.

But the feeling remained.

Someone was standing there.

Watching.

Waiting.

The Woman in White

Rahul finally fixed the chain and stood up.

Then lightning flashed across the forest again.

And this time—

She was closer.

Much closer.

The woman stood beside a tree only a few meters away.

Her white sari moved unnaturally in the wind.

Her skin looked pale gray.

Her hair hung over her face like black ropes.

Rahul’s mother gasped in terror.

“Who… who is she?”

The woman slowly lifted her head.

Rahul’s blood turned cold.

Her eyes were completely black.

No pupils.

No whites.

Only darkness.

And then—

She smiled.

A horrifying smile stretching wider than any human face should.

Rahul immediately started the bike.

“Sit quickly!” he shouted.

His mother climbed onto the bike, shaking with fear.

Rahul accelerated hard and sped through the muddy road.

But after a few minutes—

The woman appeared again.

Standing directly in the middle of the road.

Impossible.

There was no way she could have reached there before them.

Rahul slammed the brakes.

The woman slowly raised one hand toward them.

Then Rahul heard something terrifying.

A baby crying.

Coming from the forest.

The woman began walking toward them.

Step by step.

Slowly.

Unnaturally.

Lost in the Forest

Rahul turned the bike around and drove in another direction.

But panic clouded his mind.

After nearly twenty minutes of driving, Rahul realized something horrifying.

They were lost.

The same broken tree appeared again.

The same rocks.

The same narrow turn.

It was as if the forest itself was trapping them.

His mother started praying continuously.

Rainwater mixed with tears on her face.

Then the bike headlight suddenly went off.

Darkness consumed everything.

Rahul stopped breathing for a moment.

Only lightning occasionally revealed pieces of the forest around them.

Then came the whisper.

“Raaahul…”

A woman’s voice.

Soft.

Cold.

Right beside his ear.

Rahul turned instantly.

No one.

Then another whisper came from behind them.

“Help… my child…”

His mother screamed.

The Truth Behind the Spirit

Lightning flashed again.

And Rahul finally saw her completely.

The woman stood in the middle of the road carrying something in her arms.

A dead baby.

Its tiny body looked pale and lifeless.

The woman’s face was now visible.

Half of it was burned.

Blood flowed from her mouth.

Her neck bent unnaturally to one side.

She stared directly into Rahul’s eyes.

Then she spoke.

“They left us here…”

Rahul felt frozen.

Unable to move.

The woman slowly pointed deeper into the forest.

And suddenly Rahul saw something terrifying hidden among the trees.

Old broken pieces of a crashed vehicle.

Rust-covered metal.

Rotten cloth.

Human bones.

The spirit took another step forward.

Years ago, during another stormy night, a woman and her child had apparently died there after their vehicle fell into the forest.

No one ever found them.

And now her spirit wandered the mountain road searching for help.

Or revenge.

The Final Chase

The ghost suddenly screamed.

The sound was so horrifying that Rahul felt pain in his ears.

The trees shook violently.

The wind became stronger.

The woman started running toward them.

Not like a normal person.

Her body twisted unnaturally as she moved across the road at terrifying speed.

Rahul somehow restarted the bike.

The engine roared.

He accelerated with all his strength.

The ghost chased them through the rain-covered forest.

Rahul could hear her screaming behind them.

His mother kept praying loudly.

The bike slipped several times on the muddy road, but Rahul somehow maintained control.

Then finally—

They saw lights in the distance.

A small village.

The moment the bike crossed the forest boundary, the screaming stopped.

The rain slowly became lighter.

Rahul stopped the bike and looked back.

The road behind them was empty.

The woman was gone.

Home… But Not Safe

Rahul and his mother finally reached home near midnight.

Neither of them spoke about what happened.

His mother fell sick from shock.

Rahul couldn’t sleep the entire night.

Every time he closed his eyes, he saw the woman’s black eyes staring at him through the rain.

The next morning, Rahul visited an old man in the village and told him everything.

The old man listened silently.

Then his face became pale.

“I warned people never to use that road during storms,” he whispered.

He explained that many years ago, a young mother and her baby disappeared on that mountain path during heavy rain.

Some villagers claimed they still saw her spirit wandering through the forest at night.

Especially during storms.

Especially when travelers were alone.

Rahul tried to convince himself it was all fear and imagination.

But deep down, he knew what he saw was real.

Very real.

The Last Horror

Three nights later, Rahul was finally beginning to feel normal again.

Rain tapped softly against his window as he lay in bed trying to sleep.

Then he heard it.

A soft voice outside.

“Rahul…”

His body froze instantly.

Slowly…

Very slowly…

He looked toward the window.

And there she was.

Standing outside in the rain.

The woman in white.

Smiling.

Watching him.

As if she had followed him all the way home.

Final Words

Some roads should never be taken at night.

Especially during storms.

Because sometimes…

Something waits in the darkness.

And once it sees you—

It never lets you go.
