This incident is said to have happened to a Hindu priest in a rural area of Uttar Pradesh, and it is still spoken about quietly among villagers as a real experience. The priest used to travel every evening from a nearby temple back to his village, crossing a lonely forest path that most people avoided after sunset. One night, after finishing the last aarti later than usual, he began his return journey with a small oil lamp in his hand, continuously chanting mantras to keep his mind calm. As he entered the forest, the air grew unusually heavy and silent, and even the sound of insects disappeared. After walking for some time, he heard the faint sound of temple bells behind him, even though there was no temple anywhere near that place. When he stopped and turned around, the sound stopped instantly. A few minutes later, he felt someone walking beside him, matching his steps, but when he looked, there was no one. Gathering courage, he increased the volume of his chanting, and suddenly he saw a shadow on the ground that did not match his movements. Fear took hold of him, yet he did not stop reciting his mantras and continued walking without looking back. When he finally reached his village, the shadow vanished near the temple entrance. The next morning, village elders told him that years ago, a priest had been murdered on that same path while returning home at night, and since then, many people had felt an unseen presence there. The priest never took that route again after sunset, firmly believing that his faith was the only reason he returned safely that night.
